Swine flu: Beijing freaks out

From a friend in Beijing:

Having just re-entered the country I was submitted to the 'temperature gun' to the head whilst on the runway. And, the next day, a lady in a white coat and facemask turned up at my front door, gave me a thermometer and facemasks (to be worn every time I left the house in the next week — not going to happen). They are calling me twice a day, for the next seven days, to check what my temperature is. Due to jet-lag, I was asleep this morning when they called, and just spluttered '37 degrees' at them. They said they'd call at 5pm this afternoon. What a bizarre overreaction. Also, apparently they are doing the same for everyone who is entering Beijing now, although I havent seen many facemasks around.
