Is it me, or is Joel Fitzgibbon's language on the wisdom of purchasing Super Hornets getting stronger?: 'There have been very real concerns in the past that we have had ad hoc decisions in force structure and capability terms that have not been justified on the basis of strategic guidance. The standout case is the Super Hornet (purchase), which was a political fix rather than a decision based on strategic guidance.' Fitzgibbon has launched an air power review, and he has promised all options for future fighter purchases are on the table. But how would he justify sticking with Super Hornet after statements like this?
