With the death of British actor Edward Woodward, I can't resist posting this brief clip from the 1980 Bruce Beresford picture, Breaker Morant, set in South Africa during the Boer War.

Woodward's performance as Harry 'Breaker' Morant is not the one his international audience will know him by, but Australians know it well. You still see a line from the execution scene quoted occasionally ('shoot straight, you bastards — don't make a mess of it'), but Woodward's short speech in this courtroom scene is also truly memorable.

There's a lot to learn from this film about Australia-UK relations, and about just war theory. Watch it if you get the chance.
