Michael Wesley maintains, in his recent piece on Australia and New Zealand, that the kiwis were never burdened with a White New Zealand Policy!

As a New Zealander observed in 1929: ‘In the minds of most people in New Zealand Asiatic immigration presents no problem. Its interest lies in the past.
