Reader riposte: Asian multilateralism

Ray Lockman isn't happy with the visual aid I posted yesterday, which I pinched from the Center for a New American Security (CNAS):

Isn't Papua New Guinea a member of the Pacific Islands Forum? The CNAS chart you posted yesterday appears to exclude PNG from PIF.

There's admittedly a lot of overlap between the various multilateral institutions in this region. But I feel the CNAS chart exaggerates things by including PIF and SAARC. I don't think anyone seriously believes that there's any overlap between these and the ASEAN Plus Three, the East Asia Summit, or APEC.
