Whit Mason, a writer and consultant who recently spent a year in Pakistan with USAID, gave this presentation on Pakistan's then-upcoming elections to the Lowy Institute in October. Of note, Mason argues that Washington indirectly supports Benazir Bhutto because she is seen as pro-American. But Mason is less than convinced that she is the best person to hold the country together.
