The new space age

That Richard Branson is a modest chap, isn't he? Check out the lineage he has appropriated for his space tourism venture. The launch aircraft for the Virgin Galactic mini-space craft was revealed to the public recently, and stencilled on one of the engines, you see a series of silhouettes:

The bottom one could be Icarus or perhaps a Da Vinci glider design. We then move upwards through the piston and jet ages to the Apollo moon lander (third from top), followed by Branson's SpaceShipOne prototype, and finally SpaceShipTwo and its launch aircraft, which will eventually take paying customers into not-quite space.
