Ahead of next week's Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Perth, former High Court Justice Michael Kirby stopped by the Lowy Institute last week to explain his work as Australia's representative on the Commonwealth's Eminent Persons Group

Michael Kirby is passionate about the importance of the Commonwealth, and during his eloquent presentation, he highlighted the key reforms the Eminent Persons Group is recommending to strengthen the Commonwealth as a relevant group for the 2.3 billion people it represents. Kirby took the time for a quick interview following his speech, commenting on the Eminent Persons Group report, what is likely to come out at CHOGM, and his take on the news that the Indian PM is not attending.
