Iran update

I'm told Washington is awash with rumour that the Bush Administration has given the green light for Israeli military strikes against Iran, though others are saying it's all media and blog hype. The forthcoming visit to Washington of a high level Israeli delegation will do nothing to dampen the rumours. My colleague Anthony Bubalo had his say on ABC television last night.

Meanwhile, it seems one of the photos Iran released of its missile tests has been photoshopped, apparently to disguise the fact that one of the missiles in the photo failed to launch. The Age was kind enough to briefly mention the post we ran yesterday regarding Iran's demonstration of 'salvo' firing of its missiles, a technique that could overwhelm Israeli and US missile defences. That Iran has now been caught faking one of its salvo tests doesn't really undercut that analysis, since the faked shot was of a short-range missile, not the Shahab 3 that can hit Israel.
