Iran bashful executioners

You wouldn't exactly call it good news that Iran's judiciary chief has decreed there be no public hangings without his express permission. Remember, Iran is still second on Amnesty International's list of death penalty states, with 177 executions in 2006. Simply moving some of them out of the public eye is unlikely to change that. But if this is a signal that Iran realises how brutal and uncivilised such practices make them look, well, that's something.
