Indonesians are obsessed with social media. Their country has one of the highest per capita rates of Facebook use in the world.

The following video, depicting an off-duty army officer harassing a fellow motorist and brandishing a gun, has gone viral, piquing the interest of parliamentarians, the military police and human rights groups.

In the past, YouTube has captured gang attacks and even military torture of Papuans. Facebook has been heavily used for middle-class political campaigns and to some extent has replaced the ubiquitous 'demonstrasi' or mass demo. People can be political from their workstation.
