As the Prime Minister discovered this week (and Annabel Crabb politely noted) when politicians are so closely scrutinised, sooner or later one itsy bitsy word is inevitably going to sneak out at the wrong time and place.

Over his lengthy career as Australia's longest serving foreign minister, Alexander Downer discovered on at least one occasion the vicissitudes of the English language. Given the recent debate in Australia about the ethics of drawing politicians' spouses into the public light, this clip seemed particularly apt.
