I was telling an American friend recently that, speaking as someone who came to this country from a much colder northern hemisphere climate, I always feel most Australian around Christmas time. Christmas and summer just go together, and I can't wait to experience it all again — the feeling of sand between the toes, the smell of the barbeque, cricket on the radio.
