Correction: The Clinton town hall

Last week's post about the Hillary Clinton 'town hall' event held in Melbourne included an observation that the two organisations responsible for the event — the US State Department and the ABC — seemed to be at odds over who had vetted the questions put to Secretary Clinton. I noted that the US Embassy's invitation to the event refers to the fact that the ABC might get in touch to discuss questions, while the ABC's own write-up of the event says the Americans chose the questions.

The US Consulate in Sydney has been in touch to let me know that the ABC article I cited doesn't actually say what I claim it said. In fact, it refers to the audience being chosen by the State Department, not the questions. They're right, and clearly I misread the article. For the record, the US Consulate in Sydney says State had no role in choosing the questions, but it did hand-pick the audience.

My apologies for the error.
