The financial crisis has reminded everyone just how interconnected our economies are. This report was a curious reminder, though, of the extent of those networks. Yazaki, Samoa's largest employer, which manufactures wire harnesses for cars, had been laying off staff in response to the crisis. It is apparently now re-employing them in response not just to government support but the subsidies Australia has fed into our own struggling car market.
