The Asia Security Initiative blog

Today the Lowy Institute launched a major three-year Asian security project, to be funded by the MacArthur Foundation's new Asia Security Initiative (ASI). We're one of several partner institutions in what is an impressively ambitious initiative worth US$68 million.

From the perspective of The Interpreter, what's exciting about the Asia Security Initiative is the important part that blogging will play. The MacArthur Foundation has created an Asia Security Initiative blog, which already has some posts on it, and which will carry analysis and opinion from some incredibly well-credentialled scholars from around the region.

It's extremely encouraging, and The Interpreter certainly plans to engage in regular blog debates with the ASI blog. Longer term, I hope this will also encourage some of the other ASI partner institutions to take up blogging, and thus make the discussion all the richer.

For now, I encourage you to add the Asia Security Initiative blog to your Favourites.
