5-minute Lowy Lunch: Aid unplugged

The Wednesday Lowy Lunch audience got a bracingly honest look at the triumphs and failures of the last 60 years of foreign aid last week from Sir Richard Feachem.

Feachem is head of Global Health Sciences at the University of California, San Francisco, and has spent a professional lifetime in the aid industry. His speech surveyed modern debates about the efficacy of aid, and ended with some stark judgments about where aid has done very little good, and where it might actually have been counter-productive.

Below, a short interview with Professor Feachem, or go here to listen to his presentation and audience Q&A.
